Gary Zaharatos is a Physical Education Peer Observer in Denver Public Schools, known for coaching and evaluating physical education teachers throughout the city. He has dedicated his career to supporting teachers as they strive to implement high-quality instruction in physical education. Gary earned a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction.
With twenty years of experience in public education, Gary has taught and observed thousands of lessons and was named Administrator of the Year by SHAPE Colorado in 2023. In this, his first published work, Gary aims to offer insightful perspectives and practical guidance to K-12 PE teachers on how to create a rigorous, standards-based physical education program that is safe and welcoming for all students.
